Presentations and Workshops for CME and CEU Credit
Continuing education of health professionals is an essential goal of the Carpenter Foundation. Presentations and workshops for CME and CEU credit are offered to physicians, nurses, and social workers in all the metro-wide centers of the foundation’s service areas.
These educational presentations are typically made on the grounds of area hospitals and are available on request. The goal of each presentation is to improve the knowledge and skill of health care professionals so they can provide effective and high quality health care for their patients.
The following principles are utilized in the development of continuing education offered by the Foundation.
- New educational methods based on innovation and evaluation
- Integration of the continuing education into daily clinical practice
- The best available evidence for practice is used in education development
Annual End-of-Life Summit
In addition to one time presentations, the Carpenter Foundation offers a yearly, two day summit featuring local and nationally-recognized medical professionals who address issues facing frail, chronically ill patients who require expensive care in an effort to maintain independence, dignity and quality of life.
This End-of-Life Summit focuses on new models of care to more effectively treat chronic and advanced illnesses. A primary strategy of the End- of- Life Summit is to educate health care professionals in the use of home-based advanced illness management.
Such models of care provide a combination of curative and supportive treatment which increase patient satisfaction and reduces the cost of care.
